Experience

I value the importance of knowing my students, both as learners and as individuals. Building and strengthening the relationship between tutor and students is central to a successful learning experience. With 10 years of tutoring one-to-one and a Masters degree in Education and English, I am fully committed to helping students accelerate their learning and become more confident. My tutoring method uses latest effective instructional techniques by incorporating digital media, music, objects and photographs into the lesson plans. These materials engage students, reinforce material covered and connect students with their own environment and culture, as well as with other cultures. This method creates a direct, sensory connection between learners and their subjects that results in new levels of interest and attention. Research shows that teaching with multi sensory methods also creates students with higher levels of visual literacy. Moreover, I have worked as an executive in American businesses for over 10 years and can help you with language skills for global business including public speaking for meetings and presentations. I have experience in tutoring intermediate and advanced levels of English and study skills to teens, young adults and international students. My patience and sociable personality make my lessons helpful, effective, and fun. My students tell me I’m easy to talk to and one-to-one contact can be a powerful opportunity to connect. I believe students have the most useful information within them -- information that can help me reach and engage them. What's most important, perhaps, is that when I ask students questions, I ask with an open heart and an open mind -- willing to listen to whatever they say, as well as willing to listen for what's not said. Everyone deserves to be listened to.

Hobbies

I am a problem solver and enjoy researching to find the right materials methods for student success. I’m a life long learner and strive to reach outside my comfort zone to keep up to date with cutting edge teaching techniques. As a former ballet dancer, I love staying fit by running and working out with weights. To keep an open mind, I love traveling and learning about other countries and cultures. I relax by walking my dog in the park and reading novels.
