Experience
Tutoring is an extension of my desire to teach. I received my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lake Forest College, and I have years of experience as an educator and leader through working at the Learning Center. My focus on curriculum design has helped me successfully work with students to meet goals and expectations for their academics. I try to make my courses relevant to the lives of my students, so that they become engaged with classroom work and homework assignments. I always examine how successful my lesson plans are, and I include lessons on critical thinking, self-analysis and evaluation, and problem-solving skills. I model the problems I want my students to answer, so that they can master their academic coursework. I have worked primarily at the middle school and high school levels, so I can tutor a variety of subjects to many age groups. This includes elementary school math, algebra I and II, pre-calculus and high school level math, essay writing and editing, literature analysis, study skills and organization, college and standardized test preparation, writing college essays, upper level government and politics, social studies and sciences, English grammar and writing, both American and European history, and educational tutoring over the summer.
