Experience
I attended the University of Chicago and the University of Rhode Island. I can provide tutoring in a variety of subjects, such as elementary and middle school math, geometry, algebra, pre-calculus, statistics, American history, social studies, and preparation for the ACT. I can also help students in related AP- and IB-level courses. I especially enjoy teaching students the ways math is used in nearly every aspect of our lives. However, students often feel that math is a difficult subject to learn. When teaching or tutoring math subjects, my approach is to learn about the interests and hobbies of my students. I then demonstrate to them how different math topics are related to these interests. This approach can stimulate students to learn more about and master the math concepts we're working on. These students often go on to do work in other math topics. When students see that they can, indeed, master difficult math topics, it can make them more confident. This also instills in them the conviction that they can, with effort, accomplish anything. In my free time, I like to read, exercise, be with my family, and follow the sports of baseball and football.
