Education

Experience
I hold a B.A. in Biology from the University of Chicago and an M.S. in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My tutoring experience is broad based. I have worked with adults, children, and teenagers in a variety of settings. For example, I volunteered to work with foster children, taught as a nanny, and currently administer an adult GED preparation program. Tutoring provides an opportunity for me to share my education while encouraging and empowering others. I tutor in several different subject areas, but I have the greatest affinity for mathematics. Too many students fear math, and I want them to see that it can be fun! Biology is another subject I greatly enjoy. In tutoring sessions, I actively encourage questions and work to develop the critical thinking skills that will assist students in standardized test performance and in everyday life. On my own time, I keep very busy. I'm always making something, whether a quilt, a craft, or a batch of cookies. I'm a frequent hiker. I love to run, and ran both track and cross country in high school. Recently, I've been taking Japanese classes as a means of learning more about my heritage.
