Experience
I am a student at Northeastern Illinois University studying for my master's degree in Human Resource Development. I also acquired my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with minors in both Communication and Human Resource Development, from Northeastern. During college, I tutored fellow classmates while working for the Center for Academic Writing, helping them with the intensive writing courses needed for their degrees. I also worked with adult ESL/ELL students, and enjoyed their commitment to learning English. I believe that being able to communicate is necessary in order to be successful. I focus my teaching on this premise, helping students learn how to construct a story in an organized way. Once they are able to organize their thoughts and ideas, they can overcome many of the fears they might have about writing. This is also helpful when it comes to making a speech. I am available to teach many courses, including Reading, Essay Writing/Editing, Phonics, Grammar and Mechanics, Finance, Public Speaking, Study Skills and Organization, and English. Besides being a student and a tutor, I work for a small non-profit, and I enjoy working in my family's organic garden. I love being in the city, walking, and experiencing some of Chicago's wonderful restaurants.
