Experience
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with my Bachelors of Arts in sociology and international studies. I spent a year studying in Kenya while earning my BA. I intend to earn certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, or TEFL. In El Salvador, I taught English to students. Post-graduation, I spent a few years working for a medical software company as a systems analyst before I moved on to work at a children's hospital. I am currently enrolled in Cultural Foundations of Education to earn a master's degree. As part of my practice requirements, I am teaching ESL at a local community center. While in El Salvador, I taught students English. I can tutor students in Spanish, geography, history, and other courses to bolster their performance in school or during standardized testing. I can help students with test prep, essay writing, and more. I gained experience as a tutor through classrooms, particularly middle school-level reading. When tutoring, I try to demonstrate how the material in the subject works in the real world and how it affects the goals of my student. By customizing the lesson plan to the individual, I find that tutoring plays a more powerful role in meeting their learning styles and needs.
