Private tutor in Chicago, IL
Education
Loyola University Chicago - Senior Psychology Major
Experience
I have worked as a tutor with Loyola University Chicago's Writing Center for the past year. I prepared for this experience by taking a course examining various theories of tutoring. The reason I would like to be a tutor is the same reason I hope to become a therapist with my psychology degree: I like to connect with people and help them in anyway I can. Tutoring requires more than a good working knowledge of the subject at hand; it requires empathy, and the ability to sit with another person and try to understand their problems by looking at the world from his or her perspective. Hobbies
I love words, reading and writing them. The right string of words can lead to greater understanding of a given subject, or they can be used to make a joke at an awkward moment. Studying for an AP test or the ACT can be incredibly boring, but I can always add a little humor to the process while still helping someone achieve their goals.
