ExperienceI have taught college and university students at a number of different institutions in Canada and the U.S. for 12 years. While I love to teach in the classroom setting, I have often found that I can more effectively accomplish my goals as an educator by working more carefully, more slowly, more immediately with individual students or in smaller group settings. Each year that I have taught students in the classroom I have found that there ate always some--and they almost always end up proving themselves the better students--that seek out the benefit of one-on-one discussions about the course material or their assignments. This is when I really get to be of help to students, and am made to feel that the life of education--both for those being educated and for those educating--is truly worthwhile.
HobbiesI enjoy spending time with my baby boy, and watching him taking his first steps (not yet literally) in figuring out and grasping at the world. I like walking my dogs (I have three) on the lake. I enjoy reading and thinking and, above all, good conversation with smart and engaging people.
